I received this along with the 21.5" carry-on for my birthday last month, and I am really loving this tote so far. I've now used it twice on airline flights and will be using it soon for a driving trip.

Things that are great about it: PERFECT size for fitting underneath the airplane seat in front of you (don't let them try to make you put it overhead without showing them first--I've had two different airline employees try to make me either check a bag or put both in the overhead bins...*eye roll*). I flew SW both times and it fit underneath the middle and window seats, no problem. It's also a great size to be used as a mobile office or a weekend getaway bag, or a little bit of both. I carried a netbook, an external hard drive, several magazines, a couple of presentation folders, and all the power cords and chargers to go with my various electronic devices, all with plenty of room to cram in a bit more at the top. On another trip, I put two pairs of shoes in the handy mesh pockets on either side, some clothes and my carry-on liquids in the middle, a small purse to use when I got to my destination, a package of fun-size candy bars, an e-reader, a laptop, and a hairdryer and flat iron in the main interior area, then I was able to put all my travel documents and ID and credit card in the small outside zippered area and put a magazine and some jewelry in the bigger outside zippered compartment. Wonderfully spacious for being so small! I like that there are snap-on straps that keep the unzipped cover from flopping all the way open--very useful for loading and for getting something out while on the plane. They are snapped on to the body of the main compartment and can be detached to open the cover fully if you wanted to lie the suitcase on its back while packing. The other useful feature is that the tote comes with a little pouch that's half zippered mesh compartment, half plastic-lined compartment for your carry-on liquids and other small personal care items. I was able to fit my shampoo, conditioner, face wash, body wash, eye makeup remover, mascara, and facial moisturizer into the plastic compartment and then stuffed the mesh part full of all the non-liquid things like powder makeup and contact cases, q-tips, etc. It snaps in and out to a button at the top so you can quickly remove and put it in the bin at security.

It rolls along perfectly, and can sit on top of the 21.5" carry-on so that you only have one thing to roll while in the airplane aisle, but you WILL need to purchase a bag strap to do so. I thought it had the slide-over flap of fabric on the back, but I think I must've read a description of the non-wheeled boarding bag when I thought that because there is not one on this tote. The other slight negatives--like other reviewers mentioned--the telescoping handle seems kinda wobbly when fully extended, although I had no issues with it warping/bending or anything, and it did, indeed, fall over facedown when I had the bigger laptop in the pouch and was sitting in a waiting area before boarding. Not major, but all these things are slightly annoying.

The only flaw I have found is that I didn't feel the laptop storage area was sufficiently padded. It could use another 1/4" of batting inside to really protect your laptop from accidental bumps and jarring while traveling. And the elastic strap along the top to keep it in place is strangely very long and had a couple of inches of unstretched length even when I put the large laptop in the tote. Could be a bit more snug--something I could do myself by cutting and then re-gluing the velcro part if I weren't so lazy or had more time, but not a huge problem I guess. I never had to turn the tote upside down or anything like that so I felt like my computers were safe enough in there.

One final word of warning: the Mars Red is more of a maroon color, and the plastic and faux leather bumper corners are definitely maroon. I wanted a bright, stoplight red and I thought all the pictures online showed a much more brilliant shade than I ended up with. I saw every other color in person and the blue is a nice muted sapphire shade, while the Solar Rose is a beautifully shiny mauve color--not as purple as it looks in some pictures, but definitely not pink, either. If I could go back and pick again for myself, I'd get the Solar Rose, and to share with my husband, I would get the blue.

All in all, this really deserves a solid four stars. If I had a bright red and the laptop area were more padded, it would receive a five star rating. I'm very happy with my gifts, though, and look forward to using this tote more than all the other luggage!

I bought this laptop tote and the boarding bag. I couldn't wait to get my spinners for my upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. My previous set of luggage is also Samsonite, so I expected this new set to be very durable. I love the design, color, and size, but the plastic zippers are horrible (my previous set has metal zippers). I did not pack an unusually large amount of items... I had just the typical amount of overage where I had to press down on the luggage to zip it up (like most people do). These zippers began popping open and I was afraid my items would spill out. I absolutely cannot believe a company like Samsonite would even use zippers of this mediocre quality.

I would love to have a 3rd piece of luggage, and although this X-Space set is on clearance now, I'm having a hard time deciding to buy another piece from this line. I probably won't because my 3rd piece may be checked in periodically, and I certainly wouldn't want it to burst open while it was being thrown around by baggage handlers.

If you are not the type to stuff your luggage, you will love anything from this collection.
